A visceral home with memory-filled pictures as they cascade the walls, nostalgic books sit in the foreground while Scandinavian design stands at the fore. Spread across 3,200 sq ft and orchestrated by principal architects Ritu Yadav and Kulveer Bhati of TOD Innovations is this Gurugram earthy treasure-filled trove.

“Collaborating with a dear friend turned this into more than a design project; it felt like creating a sanctuary for extended family,” shares Ritu. The homeowners expressed a need for a home that resonates with clean lines, subtle sophistication and touches of their globetrotting adventures. The result? A design language of vibrant pops, bespoke elegance and Scandinavian minimalism, brimming with soft textiles and nostalgic reflections.

Subtle backdrops, vibrant pops

Dubber the Ivory House, a sense of warmth fills you as you take the first step into the foyer, adorned with framed travel photographs, a visual chronicle of the homeowner’s adventures. The bookshelf ahead gently defines the entrance to the heart of the home, the living room. Lush greens, cosy sofas and television create an ambience to socialise and relax while the neutral hues lend a nouveau touch to the vibrant decor.

However, it doesn’t stop there, the space opens up to a refreshful balcony. An ode to graceful transitions displays itself as you enter the indoors again with a wooden swing, that commands your attention and invites you to the dining space ahead.

By way of a wondrous corridor, you lead into the kitchen which sits as a culinary corner as well as a space of small gatherings. The wooden island, paired with vibrant orange chairs embraces Scandinavian simplicity.

There’s an intricate blend of burnt orange accents and subtle mouldings that present itself in the master bedroom. Echoes of the master suite attest itself through the children’s and parents’ bedrooms, weaving a narrative of familial comfort.

Mementos in front

“It’s a careful blend of Scandinavian minimalism and personal narrative. The natural materials — wood, cane, and soft textiles — set an earthy tone, while pops of playful colours in the furniture and decor bring liveliness to the space,” explains Ritu.

Each corner of the home tells a story. From the travel-inspired foyer to the art pieces that elevate the clean-lined interiors, every element is meticulously curated. Nothing feels overdone, yet the house is draped with personality and warmth, It’s meant to last.
